With Cassidy I was counting down the minutes for every new thing to happen. When will she start cooing, when will she start crawling, when can we start solid foods! All these new and exciting experiences and milestones, I just could not wait for them to all happen! Now, with Zoey, I dread them. Well not really dread, but I am just not as eager for them to all happen. I look down at her and time just flashes before my eyes. She is over two weeks old already! Where the heck did the days even go?!
At her two week appointment, she weighed in a 10lbs 6oz and 21.4 inches tall. She is a growing people! Cassidy weighed 8lbs 4ozs at her two week check up. Zoey is a consistent two pounds heavier than her at every check up so far (chow hound!). She seems so little at times, I can't believe that Cassidy was even smaller than her at one point. Zoey's head control is well, pretty outta control! She can do so much already. At birth when she was first put on my chest, she lifted her head up and just looked around. Than ever so calmly put it back down on my chest. Nurses couldn't believe it. Now she does it all the time. She will just lift her head up to look at you, or to look at a noise she heard (usually Cassidy). Her control is amazing. So anyways, Dr. Zito checked her all out and said "Well Samantha, yah got another perfect one." Not gonna lie a little tear came to my eye. She was right, we do have another completely perfect child.
Zoey has also started to coo. MY GOD I love it when they do that. I couldn't believe she was doing it because I don't remember Cassidy doing it this early on, but she was a cooin' away. It was the sweetest thing, Ian and I just both looked at each other and started laughing. One of those little things you forget about, that is just so amazing and sweet.
Ian and Cassidy have become so much closer through this whole new baby sister experience. They have always been super close, but Ian has really taken it upon himself to make sure Cassidy does not feel left out at all. It has really made this whole transition so much easier.
Cassidy is still in love with her baby sister and helps out as much as she can, she is really a great helper! She helps with changing diapers, bath times and is the best at finding Zoey's hidden binkies (I still think she is the culprit hiding them in the first place). Last night was the first night I had both of the girls by myself. I was dreading bed time. Cassidy usually gets upset around bed time, I mean what 3 year old really wants to go to bed anyways? But we made it work, and it worked well! We all watched a movie in bed, Cassidy helped put Zoey to bed than I was able to put Cassidy to bed. I was shocked. So I CAN do this.
Five years ago you told me this is where I was going to be in my life, I would have laughed in your face and spit my beer everywhere...Who I was then compared to who I am know is actually just not even comparable. My mom always told me when the right man comes into your life, things will change, you will change. Well mom, you were so right. <3
